Imperialism- the domination by one country of politcal, economic, or cultural life of another country or region.

Africa-

· The British got involved with Africa for a lot of different reasons.
· A lot for them selves.
· Had a financial interest in Africa.
· Plus the Suez Canal.
· This helped the British a lot.
· Helped by cutting away through India.
· Gave them port cities.
· It cut off six thousand miles from going out and around India.
· And they did not have to do anything to get it done.
· It made a lot of things cheaper in the port cities.
· The French also got help from the canal but again did not help build it.
· But the British were also some of the most anti-slavery people you would ever meet.
· The British also got involved with Egypt.
· Although they did not want to, but had to at the time to protect themselves.

India-

The British had more positive than negative affects,
When Britian colonized India they built 40,000 miles of rail roads and 70,000 miles of paved road.
Made it easier to travel across India.
The British also helped the agricultural of India.
Also built many institutions to set up the goverment.
But there is also a bad part of this.
The goverment did not let any natives join the land of even come into it.
England broke up the traditional industries.
